Concours events began with a Meet & Greet on Saturday, July 13, at the Supper Club of the Genoa Lakes GoLf Club, in Genoa, Nevada. The Meet & Greet featured bottomless appetizers, a generous no-host bar, and a Tech Quiz designed to test the Porsche knowledge of all who competed. The only complaint, voiced by some of the ladies present, was a lack of chocolate (we’ll see what we can do to improve that next year).
The 2024 Edition of the Silver State Concours d’Elegance, hosted jointly by PCA Zone 7 and the Sierra Nevada Region (SNR), was held at the Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa, Nevada on Sunday, July 14. This venue is perhaps our best yet for this annual event. Everyone enjoys the pastoral setting, seeing our Porsches nestled in lush grass under the canopy of 170-year-old trees. The shade offered by the trees was greatly appreciated in the near 100-degree temperature of the day. Many remarked that they would like to repeat this venue going forward.
The donuts & coffee provided by the Sierra Nevada Region got everyone going early as they hastened to prepare their Porsches for the judging that would begin mid-morning. Preparation was more challenging this year, as contestants had to dry off their entries following a brief downpour. Once the judging was completed, it was time for a buffet lunch under the park pavilion, followed by a highly vocal visit from One-Eye Charlie, the awards presentation and the charity raffle, in that order. One-Eye Charlie came back from the grave just for this event and was so taken with our Porsches that she is considering trading in her stagecoach & 6-horse rig … opining that a stretch Dakar with roof rack and Yosemite Sam mudflaps might be just the ticket.
The winners in the Tech Quiz (crafted by Ragnar Kuehnert) are shown below.

The winners in the several concours categories judged are pictured below in the order their trophies were awarded by current SNR president, Beverly Babcock. Jim & Linda McMahen won 1st in Street 4; they were not present for the trophy presentation.
We want to thank Porsche of Reno for paying for the trophies, bringing out a couple of Porsches for display, and handing out free reusable water bottles. In conclusion, here’s a few pictures of the Porsches that competed or were exhibit only.
