Please join us the weekend of April 22-24 for the 2022 Edition of the Sierra Nevada Region Wine Tour. We have scheduled the club wine tour in the Spring this year, ahead of Fire Season, when conditions should be better and to coincide with El Dorado County’s THE GREAT OUT THERE wine event. Come explore the unrivaled beauty of El Dorado County one sip at a time with a VIP Passport to THE GREAT OUT THERE. Over 25 wineries will share their innovative spirit by not only providing incredible food and wine pairings but engaging you in an experience that captures the essence of their unique story. Whether it’s live music, art demonstrations, historical tours, or winemaking insights your journey to THE GREAT OUT THERE will create treasured memories of wine, food, and a fun drive. We will stay in Placerville at the Best Western Plus Placerville Inn, 6850 Green Leaf Drive, Placerville, CA 95667. Make your reservation there ASAP, where we have special rates until March 22, 2022. Mention Sierra Nevada Region of PCA to receive a special rate of $161.00 per night, with breakfast included daily. We have 10 queens and 5 kings reserved in our group agreement.

The cost of your VIP Passport is paid with your registration on the Sierra Nevada Region website of $185/person. Your registration also includes party bus transportation on Saturday. Registration for the Wine Tour is limited to 24 people and will open Sunday, February 20. Registration will close Tuesday, March 22 or when 24 have registered, whichever occurs first.  Beverly will order the passports and schedule the individual wineries we will visit on Friday and Saturday once registration closes.  If you decide to go after registration has closed, contact Beverly Babcock or Millie Smith to get on the wait list.

The overall schedule is as follows:

Friday (April 22nd):  Reno/Sparks area club members meet at McDonald’s (18200 Wedge Parkway) just off Mt. Rose Hwy at 8:15 am. Depart Reno for Genoa Station at 8:30 am. Pass by Plum Ct on Foothill Rd (NV-206) in Gardnerville at 9:30 am to pick up club members from Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and points South. We will continue on NV-206 to pickup NV-88/CA-88 westbound and reach our first stop at the Carson Pass Rest Area around 10:00 am. Tour directions and detailed itinerary will be handed out and discussed there.  Leaving Carson Pass about 10:20 am we will continue West on CA-88 to pickup Omo Ranch Rd (just beyond Cook’s Station) and reach our first Winery stop in Fair Play at 11:30 am.  After visiting 4 Wineries in Fair Play we will leave at 5:00 pm for Placerville to check-in and freshen up briefly at the Best Western Plus Placerville Inn. Then its off to Camino for a 6:15 pm dinner at the Forrester Pub & Grill, 4110 Carson Road, Camino, where we have reserved a private dining area and everyone selects from the menu and pays on site. The menu includes Burgers, Salads, Jaegerschnitzel, Wienerschnitzel, Chicken Parmesan, Shepherd’s Pie, Taco’s, and Seafood Dishes. We return to the Placerville Inn following dinner.

Saturday (April 23rd): We meet for breakfast between 8:30-9:00 am. Then, board the Party Bus at the Placerville Inn at 10:00 am to visit the 6 wineries that we have scheduled, returning to the Placerville Inn at 6:00 pm. Saturday night dinner is on your own. You may decide that you don’t need dinner with all the food consumed in the wine and food pairing that have occurred throughout the day.

Sunday (April 24th):  Your VIP Passport remains in effect today and you are free to visit the wineries you have selected and depart for home on your own schedule. Enjoy breakfast at the Inn.
