New Member Breakfast 2022, by Kim Zeising & Deb Hertel

On Saturday April 2nd, the Sierra Nevada Region held our annual New Member Breakfast at The Grille at Somersett!  We filled the dining room to capacity with 60 members in attendance, some well-seasoned and others brand new to the club.  At the start of this gorgeous spring morning, 33 Porsches began rolling into the reserved parking lot adjacent to the Somersett Golf & Country Club.  Prior to even grabbing coffee, the majority of guests lingered outside, admiring each other’s automobiles and socializing against the beautiful backdrop of the golf course and the Sierra Nevada mountains.

As soon as the buffet line was officially open, everyone migrated indoors where the lively conversation continued over a delicious breakfast.  As we enjoyed our meal, SNV-PCA President, Millie Smith introduced all of the board members in attendance.  Then our newest members were given the opportunity to stand up and share a bit about their backgrounds, Porsches, and special interests.  What a fantastic opportunity to welcome all of our new members to the club!

Once we finished eating, we all headed back outdoors to the parking lot for our People’s Choice Competition.  It was quite a challenge to vote for just one Porsche from an array of so many handsome models!  Ultimately, top honors were bestowed upon Greg Thiessen for his lizard green 2019 911 GT3RS.  Second place was awarded to Bob McLaughlin for his 2007 911 GT3RS and 3rd place went to Rich O’Larey for his 1989 911 Carrera.

Major kudos to our Social Chair Deb Hertel and her #1 helper Kim Zeising for finding this venue and planning this event. Many thanks also to John Hertel, Darryl Tjaden and John Zeising for coordinating all of the parking efforts, and to Anne Tjaden for greeting members and assisting with the venue set up that morning.  We certainly appreciate everyone coming out to participate in this event and we look forward to seeing you at club activities throughout the year!
