Back by popular demand, please join us the weekend of April 19,20 and 21 for the 2024 Edition of the Sierra Nevada Region Wine Tour. We have scheduled the club wine tour in the Spring again to coincide with El Dorado County’s PASSPORT wine event. Explore the unrivaled beauty of El Dorado County one sip at a time with a Passport. Over 20 wineries will share their innovative spirit by providing incredible food and wine pairings and engaging you in an experience that captures the essence of their unique story. Whether it’s live music, art demonstrations, historical tours, or winemaking insights, your journey will create treasured memories of wine, food, and fun.  See their website for more information 2024 El Dorado Wines Passport Weekend – Visit El Dorado (visit-eldorado.com). We will only experience 5-6 of these wineries on Saturday.

We will stay in Placerville at the Best Western Plus Placerville Inn, 6850 Green Leaf Drive, Placerville, CA 95667. Make your reservation there ASAP, where we have special rates until March 22, 2024. Mention Sierra Nevada Region of PCA to receive a special rate of $209.00 per night, with breakfast included daily. We have 15 queens and 5 kings reserved in our group agreement.

The cost of your two-day Passport, Friday wine tasting at Lava Cap with charcuterie platter and Saturday limo bus is paid with your registration on the Sierra Nevada Region website of $200/person (this does not include party bus driver gratuity).  Registration for the Wine Tour is limited to 20 people and is now open and will close Thursday March 28,2024 or when 20 have registered, whichever occurs first.  Beverly will order the passports and schedule the individual wineries we will visit on Saturday once registration closes.  If you decide to go after registration has closed and if there is room, contact Beverly Babcock to get on the wait list.

The overall schedule is as follows:

Friday (April 19th):  Reno/Sparks area club members meet at McDonald’s (18200 Wedge Parkway) just off Mt. Rose Hwy at 10:00 AM. Depart Reno for Genoa Station at 10:30 AM. to meet up with club members from Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and points South in Genoa. Pack a light lunch or snack for our rest stop around 12:30 PM.

We will continue our drive to Camino CA. and stop at Lava Cap winery for our first tasting then check into the Best Western Plus Placerville Inn. to freshen-up. Friday night dinner is on your own and we will provide suggestions and possibly a group venue,

Saturday (April 20th): We meet for breakfast between 8:30-9:00 am. Then, board the Party Bus at the Placerville Inn at 10:30 AM to visit the 5 to 6 wineries that we have scheduled, returning to the Placerville Inn at 5:30 PM.

For dinner, we booked the Forrester Pub & Grill, 4110 Carson Road, Camino, at 6:30 PM where we have reserved a private dining area, and everyone selects from the menu and pays on site. The menu includes Burgers, Salads, Jaeger schnitzel, Wienerschnitzel, Chicken Parmesan, Shepherd’s Pie, Taco’s, and Seafood Dishes. We return to the Placerville Inn following dinner. The original owners are back and the menu has changed specializing in German food but still has a lot of their old specials from before. You will be pleased if you have been there before.

Sunday (April 21st):  Your Passport remains in effect this day and you are free to visit the wineries you have selected and depart for home on your own schedule. Enjoy breakfast at the Inn.
