Nevada City Drive, Saturday, May 24, 2025, Join us for our drive across the Sierra to Nevada City, CA and lunch at Maria’s Mexican Restaurant in Grass Valley (www.mariasgrassvalley.com) then free time to stroll the historic shops and sights of Nevada City and drive home on your own. It is an easy, relaxed, very scenic drive on CA 49 through ranches and beautiful rural county side, old historic small towns, and then climbing into the Sierra Nevada mountains with some spectacular vistas and winding roads along the winding Yuba River to exercise your Porsche. The Nevada City Downtown Historic District covers the downtown section roughly bounded by Spring, Bridge, Commercial, York, Washington, Coyote, and Main Streets. Several historical buildings have received National Register of Historic Places or California Historical Landmark status and have been preserved.
We will meet at the North Starbucks in the Shopping Center off of North McCarren Blvd. just east of Home Depot– 2905 Northtown Lane, Reno, NV 89512 at 8:40 a.m. Detailed drive instructions and Nevada City area guide will be provided. Drivers Meeting at 8:50 a.m. then the approximate 140 mile, approximate 3 hour, with comfort break, drive starts at 9:00 a.m. We will drive north on US 395 to CA 70 then west to CA 49 then south and west through the Sierra with a break halfway near Sierra City, then on CA 49 to where CA 49 joins CA 20 to Maria’s Mexican Restaurant in Grass Valley. Weather permitting we will have lunch on Maria’s patio. After lunch we will drive up CA 20 the short 3.8 miles to Nevada City to take in the historical sights.
