Our club’s biggest adventure of 2022 will take us some 320 miles down the Loneliest Road in America (US-50) to Ely, Nevada where we will spend Friday and Saturday nights, September 9 &10. There will be a group lunch Friday in Eureka, a train ride Friday afternoon, a group dinner Friday night in Ely, and on Saturday a drive to Great Basin National Park, a tour of the Lehman Cave, a group lunch at the Lehman Cave Cafe, a drive up Mt Wheeler, a short nature hike, and return to Ely.

Your hosts for this event are Steve & Mayla Kent, who planned and pre-ran this tour and will be ordering tickets for the train ride and Lehman Cave Tour. Mayla is a native of Ely and came up with the idea for this tour.

We’ll be staying at the La Quinta Inn (1591 Great Basin Blvd., Ely, Nevada 89301, ), where breakfast is included with your room, and everyone makes their own reservations. A discount rate of $125 per night (does not include taxes) is available until August 19, for a room with one King bed or two Queen beds. You need to say you are with the Sierra Nevada Region PCA to get this rate.

Everything on this tour is pay as you go, except the Train Ride and the Lehman Cave Tour.

Lehman Cave adult tickets are $15, (no senior rate). If you have an interagency Senior Pass or an interagency pass (Golden Age/Senior Pass and Golden Access cardholders) the cost is $7.50.  We will need the name of the pass holder and the pass number to book the reservation.  You will have to show your pass when you pick-up your tickets.

Nevada Northern Railway tickets for a group of12 or more are $29.00 each. Prices of tickets if we do not have 12 are: Senior (65and over) $29.00 each; and, Adults $35.00 each.

Reno/Sparks tour participants will meet Friday at 7:45 am at MacDonalds/Chevron (2095 Brierley Way, Sparks; take Vista Blvd exit off I-80) to sign the PCA waiver and for a driver briefing.  They will depart at 8:00 am heading East on I-80 toward Fallon.

Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville participants will meet Friday at 7:45 am at the FoodMaxx parking lot SE corner of US-50 & Airport Rd behind Taco Bell to sign the PCA waiver and for a driver briefing. They will depart at 8:00 am heading East on US-50 toward Fallon.

The two tour groups will meet to form one tour at Fox Peak Station (615 E Williams Ave, Fallon) at about 9 am before leaving for Austin, Eureka, and Ely.

Please register ASAP as we are limiting this Tour to 15 Porsches and 30 people. We need to make the Lehman Cave Tour reservations well in advance, as tours tend to fill up fast. Note that September tour times are TBD at present.

Please register below for the tour as either an interagency pass holder or non-pass holder. Please enter the name of the pass holder (as it appears on the pass) and the pass number in the comments field. Note that pass holders can register two individuals under a single pass, at the passholder rate.

You do not need a Paypal account to use the Paypal payment method.  Paypal will accept major credit cards.

Registration closes on August 20 at noon.
