President’s Message

The first quarter of 2018 has passed quickly and it looks like spring has finally sprung after a late Miracle March. The Sierra Nevada Region has had a number of great 2018 winter events. We had a great Planning Party where we discussed new events and our traditional events. Thanks to Jeff and Sheri Sepahpour we again had the longstanding Cioppino Feed. There was a great turn out for this fun winter event. We also had a very fun St. Patrick’s Day Dinner with a Potato Race and Potato Concours. This event is something different and brings out the creative and competitive side of our members. Thank you Millie and Ozzie Smith and Mary Lou and Craig Kugler for all of your work on the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner!

On Saturday, April 8 we have our annual New Member Breakfast to welcome new members. If you know any new members or you are a new member reading this we encourage you to attend. The club is buying new member’s breakfast and we will all be coming out to welcome you! This year’s event is at the Hidden Valley Country Club which should make for an extra setting to see all the Porsches coming out after hibernation and members to meet new friends and plan your next Porsche Club Drive or event. Thank you Karen Goodie and Karen Vibe for organizing this event! Speaking of drives, the Dust Off Tour is the next day Sunday, April 8, 2018. Pete and Carol Dickenson are taking on this anticipated first drive of the year. Thanks Carol and Pete! It is always anticipated because it means spring is here although it is not unusual to encounter some last signs of winter on this first drive. This year Pete and Carol are taking us to Greenville where we will have lunch at Anna’s Cafe, 300 Main St., Greenville.

This is just the beginning of a fun year ahead. It won’t be long and our popular Summer Wine Socials will start. The first one is Friday, May 11. We are going back to The Sierra Nevada Museum of Art to taste wine and sample appetizers from renowned chef Mark Estee at Chez Loui in the museum and take in their current exhibits Altered Landscape Photography, Art of the Greater West, Contemporary Art and the Work Ethic.

Your Concours Committee has had its first meeting and is moving forward with our July 28 and 29 Concours D’Elegance Meet & Greet, German dinner and Concours. Dick Bottom and Ragnar Kuehnert are co-chairmen. If you want to be more involved in the club, joining this committee is a good way to help and meet everyone.

Come out and join us!
