The prior drive tours to Genoa were very well received, so we’re going to do it again. Meet at 8:30 at the McDonalds at Mt. Rose Highway and Wedge Parkway. At 9:00 we’ll head up Mt. Rose Hwy to Incline, then go south on the east side of Lake Tahoe to the Kingsbury Grade. Up and over to Foothill road then north to Genoa. We’ll arrive in Genoa about 10:30am.
In Genoa, we’ll start at the Genoa Bar (possibly with a Bloody Mary) and hear some really funny Cowboy Poetry. You can then shop, go to either of the museums or just walk around until lunch.
At 12:15, we’ll have a nice lunch on the Pink House patio and a presentation by Lillian Virgin Finnegan, the founder of the Genoa Candy Dance. This year is the 100th anniversary of Candy Dance and we’ll be dedicating a statue of Lillian in town this coming August. She’ll be here in advance just for you.
After lunch is free time and/or a guided tour by Lillian of the central attractions in Genoa.
The Genoa stay will end about 2:30. We’ll then drive south, get on 88 to 89 north to Pioneer Trail. The “guided” drive will then go through South Lake on the east side back home. You can always do your own thing getting home – the west side of the lake, for instance – if desired.
The price will be $30 which includes the performers, lunch and the tour. Sign up on our website. For questions or more information contact Dan Aynesworth at firstname.lastname@example.org or 714-474-1362.
Registration closes Wednesday, June 26 at 5pm.
