Find out more about Autocross, Driver Education (DE), Hillclimbs and Open Road Racing events. Autocross events are sponsored by the Reno SCCA and are held at Stead Airport. Nearby DE events are hosted by the Golden Gate Region PCA at Thunderhill (Willows, CA) and Laguna Seca (Monterey, CA). These are for first time track drivers to experienced racers. Instruction provided for beginners. These events are very well run and highly recommended. Hillclimbs are held on closed mountain roads and are typically less than 5 miles. The Virginia City Hillclimb is held in our own back yard. The Silver State Classic Challenge is the premier open road race held in eastern Nevada the third Sunday of May and September. A 90 mile stretch of highway is closed to the public and drivers race in speed classes from 90mph to unlimited. It’s a blast. A video of the race will be shown.
